Yeah Mike,
You definitely need to be nimble to take advantage of the pre and post market trades. We have been getting quite a few executions outside of normal trading hours and I would expect more of the same moving forward. I’ve never had an account over at IB but I’ve heard some bad things about them, especially that they can call in your…[Read more]

Mike:
I’m fairly new as a subscriber too but I’ve been following Seth and reading his articles for quite some time now. I can personally attest that Seth is a very talented trader, especially in the retail sector. I mean…This guy is literally driving around on Black Friday not shopping, but actually counting cars in retail parking lots! In…[Read more]

Gentlemen!
it just occurred to me that on very short-term options (less than 5 trading days) a long position in options, ATM, might have a slight statistical edge due to the fact that one can only lose 100% but potentially win much more than 100%. A high gamma value in combination with the general down-trend of the inverse volatility-contracts…[Read more] -

Gordon Chang made the comment that China is the weak hand in this situation.
It’s like when you owe the bank $10000 you are in trouble but when you owe them $100M they are in trouble.
The other thing, I think anything that jacks up the price of softs like soybeans does not bode well for Chinese social stability.
Weak position.

Any thoughts on the escalating trade war between China and the US? Experts say there’s a low probability of an all out war, but seems the tit-for-tat is escalating between the Trump administration and the PRC. I do not think Trump understands the core social value of “saving face” in Asian culture. The PRC is not going to back down, and neither is…[Read more]

I read Trading volatility by Brennan Nykreim and was sharing some of the ideas i got. I do agree 1 month out would not be a good idea.
I agree Seth.

@ Volleball,
you said:
“1) Buying deep ITM monthly SVXY calls after a significant drop in price.
2) When UVXY and VXX spikes up, sell deep OTM naked calls 2 to 3 months away. When profitable close the trade out by buying back the OTM call.
3) Buy 3 to 4 months out deep ITM VXX puts when volatility spikes”why would you go for MONTHLY SVXY…[Read more]

1. 503020 strategy is an amateurish strategy.
2. No strategy lasts forever. So you need to be fluid in your thoughts.
3. SVXY etc are not buy and hold instruments rather scalping instruments. I’m simply not good in scalping, you have to play with larger sums for a few percentage points move to matter (I obviously don’t have that anymore), and…[Read more] -

On Feb 5th I lost $900K. I was very aggressive in my trades, had way more positions open than I should have, also had a bunch of naked contracts. This was a good 30% of my net worth. I have $100K left to “play” & rebuild. Is there any hope left for me? My gut tells me if I play safely (remain in the VOL trade), stay patient, can reach $1 Mill in…[Read more]

To be fair: They said that their strategy will only work when in contango – the problem with that is of course: no one really knows when we will go into or come out of contango in advance.

Wasn’t there some FB brouhaha last fall about the Russian bogeyman. Zuck was going to have to hire a ton of ad checkers and that was going to impact profits, etc.?
Then after a couple news cycles everybody forgot about that.
Just like they will forget about this kerfuffle and the next one too.

I tried to find the quote in the Michael Lewis book “The New New Thing”, but couldn’t.
Something along the lines of “If somebody tried to mention PE in the room it was like they farted.”
That’s almost the situation with NFLX and AMZN.

The market is supported by FANG stocks. Two of the four megacap names have astronomical PE ratios.
So how is PE even relevant?

Those guys seem to be prettty quiet lately…I tried to warn them that you cannot simply hold SVXY long-term, ‘Innoware’ confirmed, kind of, but still recommended to invest some amount of money monthly into SVXY and just hold, you were supposed to become a millionaire with this ‘strategy’ in just 10 years…..
