Seth Golden replied to the topic What's your 2018 price target for BBBY? in the forum Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) 6 years, 4 months ago
I think 10-15% upside is not out of the question given how low results have been and the fact that retail sales and consumer spending has accelerated. My concern is the housing market has cooled and this might be an offset to BBBY numbers. The risk/reward is rather neutral but as you asked, I do believe the downside is quite limited. Holding hear…[Read more]

The company is now more than halfway through its rollout of same-day delivery with Shipt and the launch of a curbside pickup service known as “Drive Up.” Its goal, which Target said it’s well on track to meet, is to have the services available at the majority of its stores before the holiday…[Read more]

Current look at term structure with contango having touch 8% yesterday, today slightly lower thus far. The focus of contango going forward will need to be on m2 which is presently at 4%. The majority of ETP holdings are now comprised of m2 futures contracts, not m1. -

It’s more risky in terms of if an anomalistic event occurs, it would cause the greatest damage at the beginning of a monthly cycle, than later in the monthly futures cycle. Key term is anomalistic, as the probability is quite low.

It would depend on the current state of term structure. But in general your risk would be greater with initiating a position at the beginning of the futures contract as the ETP holds the vast majority of its AUM in the m1 during the onset of the contract month. So if a Feb 5 event occurred on day 1 of the AUM holding the m1s would be far worse…[Read more]

Oh ok..Thank you…so the majority of ETP matters. I wondered the m1 doesnt move as close/high as Spot Vix when M1 is on its first day. With that i thought its less risky to short VXX on the start of m1. Thank you for correcting

Charles, you might also consider: I decided 2018 was t an optimal year for 2X leverage and switched from UVXY end of 2017 and into VXX for 2018. Gives you more room for error and liquidity. Lots of different ways to minimize effects of major spikes. Certainly you give up some of the potential profit with 1X vs 2X, but you’ll still beat the b…[Read more]

@clevers I’ve been shorting TVIX, UVXY, VXX etc for several years and utilizing it as a primary trading/investing strategy. We typically use a large cash position for liquidity purposes or as you note, large spikes. That has typically been the most advantageous hedge. There can be extended periods where these ETPs decay and as such hedging with a…[Read more]

Finom Group has met it’s profit target with its trade alert on (XRT) shares. We initiated this trade on 4/13/18. In less than 2 months we’ve been able to extrapolate roughly 10% profit from this trade. Our full exit of this position was executed today at $48.15 per share. The share price can continue to rally, but we would rather a realized…[Read more]

@volguru All good points! Risk assessment would be accurate in rear view mirror as always and always best to commit to that exercise. Regarding ZIV vs. VXX: ZIV will likely carry lesser risk and less reward being in the middle of the curve, but also subjected to beta slippage in the event volatility rises in persistent fashion over a period of…[Read more]

Hi Seth, do these trades really work? I would think once it is put out publicly like that, other players would trade against this? I’m thinking whether to try and replicate their trades.
